ABOUT TESS

I am an apparel design student in my final year, seeking a Bachelor of Science from the College of Design at the University of Minnesota. Born and raised in St. Paul, MN, I created my first garment at age 4 with gold lame and staples. As time progressed I have developed a strong love of sewing, design, and creative problem solving. Various trips to Europe in my youth spawned a delight in antique opulence and the whimsical joy that comes from experiencing history. As a glamorous and bold woman myself, I like to design with strength and femininity. I enjoy designing in all three dimensions, creating interest from all angles. There is nothing I love more than creating clothes that flatter and enhance the figures of different women and improve their sense-of-self. Someday I hope to influence and participate in global fashion in a way that promotes everyday style, joy, and comfort. Recently, my work has shown in RISE: Advocacy through Design, ALIGN senior fashion show, the Hearts for Fashion show at MOA, RED [Super High Fashion], and Threads fashion show hosted by the Weisman Art Museum. In the future, I would love to spend time learning from both high-fashion design houses, as well as mass-market ready-to-wear corporations. In my free time I enjoy traveling and spending time with my pets.
